Elon Musk changes the name of Twitter to ‘X’ and replaces the Iconic Bird Logo

-

Twitter owner Elon Musk formally changed Twitter’s popular bird logo to an “X” Yesterday as part of a sweeping rebrand he mentioned over the weekend.

Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion late last year. He wrote in a post on Sunday, “The company would soon bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

As of Yesterday, the domain X.com directs users to the homepage of Twitter; though Twitter.com is still live. Branding in the mobile application has not changed for many users till now.

The transition from Twitter to X shows Musk’s approach to turning the platform into what he has envisioned as an ‘everything app’.

Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino wrote, “X will be centered on audio, video, messaging, and payments/banking. The platform will also be powered by artificial intelligence.”

According to court filings, “Twitter first began its transition to X in April, when the name of Twitter Inc. changed to X Corp.”

Musk shared that tweets will now be called “x’s,” although when questioned about what retweets would be termed, he wrote, “The concept should be rethought”.

Musk shared an image of the X logo projected onto the firm’s headquarters yesterday.

The Tesla CEO likes the letter “x,” and his connection to it is not new, as we can see from his other business ventures. SpaceX also features an X as its logo, and Musk recently unveiled a new artificial intelligence startup with the name xAI, with the lofty aim of understanding the real nature of the universe.
